Womens Impowerment Calligram

What She's Made Of

Women possess SO many positive qualities that are constantly overlooked by society. Why are we seen as inferior when we are just as capable as men?

I created this piece to share the words that come to mind when I think of women. Being raised by a strong woman has taught me to appreciate all that we have to offer. I've always been taught that I will have to work ten times harder than a man, even if I am more qualified. Some men will always feel like we don't have it in us to be on their level in society or hold positions of power because we are simply "moody" and unintelligent.  Although there were so many other words I could've used in this piece, the main goal was to portray that we are all filled with the qualities necessary to make a positive impact in this world. Uplifting other girls is a main goal of mine because it is important to motivate each other in a world where we are degraded.  The future is female. Our contributions to the world will not go unnoticed as long as we continue to voice our opinions and inspire one another.

Abstract Art Using Code

Coding is definitely a difficult skill to learn and it takes patience and determination. Considering this was my first time creating an art piece using code, this project took a lot of time to complete. Originally, I planned on creating a cartoon character using code but I was unable to figure out how to complete that goal. Instead, I decided to create an abstract piece of art that allowed me to express my preferred artistic style. To be completely honest, I completed this project with the trial and error strategy and eventually all of the shapes morphed into a cohesive piece. After I placed the first three shapes on the grid I was able to better understand how to manipulate the shapes to fall where I wanted on the x and y axis.

Fluidity is what makes my piece the most successful. There is an elegance to the way the arcs flow together while there are other shapes surrounding them from all angles.

I spent a total of thirty- two hours on this piece. Most of my time went towards figuring out the placement of the shapes as mentioned before. Choosing the colors and theme also took me awhile to figure out because constantly had new ideas. I hope anyone who views this enjoys it as much as I do.

So... Who Invented the Internet and the Web?

Everyone loves the internet. It's a tool that is used daily in one way or another to gather and or share information. A common misconception is that the internet and the web are the same thing.

The best way to describe the internet is to think of it as a network of multiple different networks combined. When computers are connected to the internet it allows people from all over the world are able to communicate through the internet. Vint Cerf and Robert E. Kahn are the two names that are thought of when someone is asked who was responsible for creating the internet.

The difference between the internet and the web is that the web is made up of all the information and resources that users need. Websites or webpages are what make up the web and they make a way for information to be located. Sir Tim Berners and Robert Cailliau are the creators of the world wide web. They created the invention in 1990 and in 1989 they began planning for the creation of the hypertext systems that we commonly use today.

New Digital Adventure

Hello! My name is Ayana and I'm an Advertising and Public Relations Major. My hometown is Columbia, MD and I moved to Tampa to have a change of scenery along with new experiences.

In the world we currently live in, media plays a huge role and it influences the way society behaves. Being able to be in a course that teaches me how to create digital media projects will open up a world of opportunity for me and my career. When I was introduced to the field of advertising, I felt like I finally found a career path that allows me to have many job options and creative freedom. I have to admit that I am nervous about diving into this course because of the amount of information I will have to learn in only a few months. At the same time, I am learning that challenges me to push myself further than my comfort level.

In this course I expect to learn how to properly use technology and programs that I will need in order to create creative projects. Recently, I purchased a camera and I plan on learning how to portraits and capture exciting moments so the photoshop application we will be learning how to use will be very beneficial.
